The second season of 1923 kicked off on February 23, 2025, on Paramount+. With seven more episodes to come, the season promises to be a fascinating dive into the world of the Duttons and the constant fight to hold on to the land they hold so dear.
Season 2 started with “The Killing Season,” an episode that picked up where season 1 of 1923 left off while simultaneously reminding viewers what that title means. The second episode, due out on March 2, has an even more devastating title, one that already has fans on the edge of their seats waiting for its release.
Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and the other stars of 1923 have talked about the upcoming season. Here’s more of what they have to say and details about when and where episodes of 1923 are released.
How Many Episodes Are in ‘1923’ Season 2?

In 2022, 1923 creator Taylor Sheridan told Deadline that the show’s second season was “really the second half of the [first season]. He explained that, unlike 1883, which never had a second season in the works, 1923 was a show that necessitated more than the initial eight episodes to make up the whole story.
The eight episodes included in Season 2 of 1923 will be available on Paramount+ every Sunday. This means the season will run through mid-April.
Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren Were Enthusiastic About Season 2 of ‘1923’
Taylor Sheridan said that both Harrison Ford (Jacob Dutton) and Helen Mirren (Cara Dutton) initially only signed on for one season of 1923, but when it came time to do more,
“They were excited. They only signed on originally for one season. They were so eager to continue it… Harrison made a comment at one point, he goes, Taylor I think I’m making the best thing I’ve made in 20 years. And my response to him was, what the fu*k did you make 20 years ago as good as this? What was that? I missed that one. What was it?”
When asked if they would be willing to do a third season, should it be an option, Mirren revealed that working with Harrison Ford was something she would do in a “nanosecond” even if it wasn’t 1923, but extending their current story was an option:
As long as Harrison is in it, I’ll be there.
Mirren’s comments reflect her affinity for her co-star as well as for the role of Cara. As she told Cowgirl Magazine, the way Taylor Sheridan writes “great women roles” helped her change her mind about Westerns in general:
“He’s written a whole series of great, great women’s roles. Those roles didn’t exist when I was growing up in our business. Even as an audience member, I never saw these people on the screen. I never really liked Westerns because the women in them were so awful.”
There Are Numerous Hints About What’s to Come in Season 2 of ‘1923’
She continued that it made for a different experience but a fun one, but her comments seem to indicate that Spencer and Alexandra may not reunite any time soon. Moreover, additional details about what is in store for the Duttons can be gleaned from the episode titles alone. Season 1 of 1923 featured episodes that referenced war and destiny, but Season 2 seems to focus on death and destruction — indicating a much darker tone.
