When Will Taylor Sheridan’s ‘The Madison’ Arrive On Paramount+? Everything We Know About Its Release Date!

Taylor Sheridan’s target audience certainly isn’t in a Sheridrought yet. The second and final 1923 season premiered over this past weekend, and eight episodes will keep that rodeo going for nearly two months.

What will come next? It won’t be the Beth and Rip show but will be The Madison, which will continue the Yellowstone saga, but none of Sheridan’s standalone series (Tulsa KingLionessLandman) are expected to return this year. Actually, that’s not entirely true because Mayor Of Kingstown could be back with a fourth season before 2025 ends, but what else? It’s going to be a strange year.

Let’s just say that last fall had at least four Sheridan shows releasing new weekly series, which is a sharp departure from how this year will roll out. Sheridan is as busy as ever, yet it’s simply going to be an odd several months for those who love to binge multiple Sheridan shows at once. So of course there’s a question we need to discuss.

When Will Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison Arrive On Paramount+?

As of now, Paramount+ hasn’t clarified a specific date, but the Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox-starring show should arrive in late 2025.

Earlier this year, Patrick J. Adams revealed that filming is complete after production stretched from Texas to Montana. The cast further includes Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Kevin Zegers, and Elle Chapman.

The show’s sparse description promises a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” We’ll be watching for a release date, but for now, Sheridanland is full of mystery

How does The Madison connect to Yellowstone?

Despite the fact that the series has been billed as a spinoff, so far, very little information has been revealed as to its connection to the main Yellowstone storyline. None of the characters (that we know of, at least) from The Madison appeared on screen in Yellowstone, nor was the spinoff ranch mentioned. The closest we seemed to get from the flagship’s finale was the news that Rip and Beth would be moving to a new ranch outside of Dillon, Montana—near the area known as the Madison Valley, where The Madison is set.

In an interview with Variety following Yellowstone‘s November season premiere, Voros said of the new show, “It’s such a different story. The common ground is the landscape. We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens, so it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished. There are parallels in the scope of landscape and a human being’s place in that space, but it’s coming at it from a completely different point of view.”

What’s The Madison about?

The logline for the show explains that the series will be “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” While the show has consistently been billed as having a connection to Yellowstone, thus far it’s not clear exactly how the two series will intersect.

Initially it was reported that The Madison (which has also operated under the title Madison) would “follow wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn and her family as they leave New York City and head to Montana in the wake of her husband and brother-in-law’s tragic deaths in a plane crash.” It’s not currently clear whether those details remain accurate.

Who’s in the cast?

Michelle Pfeiffer was first confirmed to headline the spinoff. She will play the mother of two daughters — Beau Garrett and Elle Chapman. Chapman’s character is Paige McIntosh, who luxuriates in the New York lifestyle perpetuated by her parents and husband. Patrick J. Adams will play Russell McIntosh, Paige’s investment banker husband. Garett will play Abigail Reese, a New York mother of two who is recently divorced. Amiah Miller will play Abigail’s oldest daughter Brigitte.

Deadline exclusively reported Matthew Fox’s boarding of the project in the role of bachelor Paul, who loves the outdoors.

Outside of The Madison‘s main family, Zegers will play a neighbor named Cade, Spence will play Liliana Weeks, a family friend from New York, and Vasinova will play the Indigenous wife of a local rancher.

Word of Kurt Russell joining the project had circulated, but nothing has been confirmed thus far. TVLine first had the news.

Is Matthew McConaughey in the show?

Perhaps most notably for fans of creator Taylor Sheridan’s universe of Yellowstone shows, Variety reports that The Madison is indeed the spinoff previously operating under the working title 2024. Pfeiffer was previously expected to star in said series alongside Matthew McConaughey, who has been rumored to join the Dutton universe for over a year.

2024, which was announced last fall along with an additional prequel series 1944 (following on the heels of Sheridan’s Dutton-focused 1883 and 1923) has been the source of speculation since McConaughey was originally rumored to be joining the Yellowstone as far back as February 2023. However, despite the persistent word that the star was in talks for the project, no casting confirmations for him ever materialized.

News that The Madison is indeed the renamed 2024 would seem to indicate that McConaughey (who was said to be growing impatient over protracted contract negotiations earlier in the year) is no longer involved.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
