Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Will Get a Major Shake-up in Season 2, Billy Bob Thornton Teases
“Since she doesn’t really know the oil business that well, I’m there with her to show her how these people operate. You can know something intellectually but what are the street smarts behind it? I know how to deal with these people she’s going to have to deal with. I just tell her, ‘Look, some of these deals you can take but when it gets really weird and difficult, let me know because I know these guys.’”
Billy Bob Thornton’s Oilman Faces Double the Danger in ‘Landman’ Season 2
Not only does Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy take on a lot more responsibility in the second season, but he also faces a lot more danger. Though none of it will change the character too much. The actor teased:
“He goes from having a job that’s really difficult and a job that’s very dangerous to having two. Now I’m kind of executive and a landman and a family man in the midst of this tornado. It makes for some pretty interesting stuff I have to say.
I think the only difference in my wardrobe this year is every now and then I’ll throw a sportjacket over my jeans and crummy button up shirt.”
Alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, Landman Season 2 stars Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is inspired by Wallace’s podcast “Boomtown,” and stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, an old-school landman for an oil company.
Despite somewhat mixed reviews, the series has been another huge hit for both Sheridan and Paramount, landing 14.6 million viewers in its first week and becoming one of the streamer’s biggest debuts in years. You can check out the official synopsis for Landman below.
“In the heart of Texas, roughnecks and billionaires try to get rich quick in the oil industry; Tommy Norris, a struggling executive, tries to take his company to the top during the fuel boom.”
