What Julia Schlaepfer Is Doing After 1923 Season 2

Warning: SPOILERS for 1923 Season 2’s Finale – “A Dream and a Memory”

Julia Schlaepfer is one of the biggest stars to come out of the Yellowstone prequel 1923, and audiences may be curious about what she has coming out next. The 30-year-old actress has been working in the industry for under a decade, and her best-known roles outside 1923 are TV shows like The Politician and American Horror Stories. However, the Paramount+ Western is easily her most prominent and exceptional performance yet, shining in 1923’s cast among legends like Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, and Timothy Dalton.

Julia Schlaepfer played Alexandra in 1923, the woman who would go on to marry Spencer Dutton, becoming the grandmother to Kevin Costner’s iconic John Dutton III from Yellowstone. She meets a tragic fate in 1923’s season 2 ending, much to the dismay of fans who had grown to love her character and the actresses’ phenomenal chemistry with Spencer actor Brandon Sklenar. Luckily, the actress is still kicking, and she’s bound to have an exciting career after the Taylor Sheridan Western’s conclusion.

Julia Schlaepfer has been cast alongside Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson and Kaley Cuoco in the HBO Max pilot How To Survive Without Me. The one-hour drama comes from Greg Berlanti, Bash Doran and Warner Bros TV.

Written by Berlanti and Doran from a story the duo co-wrote with Robbie Rogers, How To Survive Without Me is set in the wake of matriarch Beverly’s passing. The De Angelis family has begun to drift, unsure how to manage their complicated, evolving lives without her guidance, but in true Beverly fashion, she found a way to keep running the show from the beyond. Should they wish to experience Beverly’s final work, the family must find the time — and make the effort — to remain connected, and be there for each other through all of life’s challenges yet to come. Schlaepfer will play Liz, a gorgeous mess who inherited her mother’s gift for storytelling, but not her discipline. Liz possesses both vulnerability and strength, but her struggles with self-worth as well as a penchant for chaos cause her to make questionable choices about her life.

Berlanti and Doran executive produce with Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman. Rogers also executive produces via Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with WBTV. Warner Bros Television is the studio. Daniel Minahan will direct the pilot.
