Jefferson White Breaks Silence On Yellowstone Spin-off ‘6666’ And Jimmy’s Return (Exclusive)
Jefferson White returned to Yellowstone in the final season (Season 5 Part 2) in fall 2024, bringing with him renewed questions about what’s going on with the reported Yellowstone spinoff, 6666 (pronounced four sixes). Based on the ranch that White’s Yellowstone character, Jimmy Hurdstrom, moved to in Yellowstone Season 4, 6666 is said to be on the horizon for Taylor Sheridan‘s TV universe.
It’s been a long time since there have been any meaningful updates about the series since it was announced by Paramount in February 2021. Two prequels and three present-day spinoffs have been released and announced in the time since — 1883, 1923, Y: Marshals, the Beth and Rip series, and The Madison — and there’s reportedly another prequel, 1944, in the works. So, what’s up with 6666?
‘Yellowstone’ Actor Jefferson White Comments on Future of ‘6666’ Spinoff
As the Yellowstone universe expanded, it became evident that viewers wanted to know more about Jimmy and how he learnt what it meant to be a cowboy at 6666 Ranch. At the time, it was announced that a 6666 spin-off was in development, with Jimmy set to return as one of its primary characters. However, as time passed, there was no official update from Paramount about whether the project was still in development.
Well, folks, we knew this day might come: 6666 Yellowstone spinoffs might not be happening after all. In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Yellowstone actor Jefferson White (Jimmy) hinted that 6666, a show teased since 2022, seems unlikely.
During a conversation that centered around working with Kevin Costner, the DM team asked Jefferson for any word on what’s next for the Yellowstone universe—namely, if we can expect him to reprise his role as Jimmy anytime soon.
“Not that I know of now,” he admitted. “I kept my fingers crossed, but also, I’d be grateful if I got to do more, and I’m grateful for what I got to do. I don’t want to be selfish. We got a lot of great mileage out of that show.’
While Jefferson doesn’t seem fully fazed by the unknown future of the series, fans are split by the news.
- “Very pleased with the way his storyline ended! Don’t mess with things. Let him and the misses ride off into the sunset,” one Instagrammer commented on Whiskey Riff’s post about the potential cancellation.
- “I’m bummed about this. I was afraid this would start happening. He has too many in [the] fire. His shows are great, but the long wait between seasons while he creates new shows is too much. It’s giving Game of Thrones with fans waiting and waiting, rumors, [and] high hopes dashed. I looked forward to this. Jimmy was a great character and a favorite from Day 1,” someone else chimed in.
- “It’s not happening, it would have happened a long time ago… honestly, taking Jimmy away from the show full-time was a mistake,” another fan remarked.
As entertaining as a 6666 spinoff would be, we’re just grateful that Y: Marshals and Dutton Ranch are still headed our way. After all, since news of Taylor Sheridan leaving Paramount in November 2025, the future of the Yellowstone franchise has felt up in the air.
