When Does ‘Y: Marshals’ Come Out? Everything We Know About the Kayce Dutton Spinoff

Kevin Costner’s John Dutton may have moseyed on into the sunset. But the Yellowstone patriarch’s spirit still lingers over the series’ various spinoffs, one of which is mere months away from debuting. The upcoming Y: Marshals — no relation to Y: The Last Man — will center on Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton, John’s youngest son. Yellowstone’s fifth and final season ended with Kayce selling off a large portion of the ranch. And, as its title implies, the spinoff will see him stepping into a new career as a U.S. marshal.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan  will serve as an executive producer, along with David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Luke Grimes, Spencer Hudnut, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari. Spencer Hudnut will also serve as showrunner. So, when is Y: Marshals premiering? And who’s in the cast? Read on as we answer these questions and more.

What is Y: Marshals about?

According to the show’s official logline, Y: Marshals will find Kayce Dutton joining “an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

Who’s in the cast of Y: Marshals?

Paramount has yet to reveal the full cast of Y: Marshals, but with Grimes leading the series as Kayce, it’s likely we’ll also see his wife, Monica, as played by Kelsey Asbille. Currently, there is no official news on whether Kelsey Asbille will bring Kayce’s wife, Monica, back to life in Y: Marshals; however, since the show is expected to take place on their family’s ranch, it would be quite weird if she and their children weren’t in it. While that remains to be seen, Entertainment Weekly confirmed in August that Logan Marshall-Green would join the cast alongside Grimes. The actor will play Pete Calvin, a military veteran whom Kayce befriended during his time in the Navy SEALs.

No word yet if we’ll see other Yellowstone characters on the new series. We certainly hope we see a few pop in from time to time. Perhaps livestock agents Ryan (Ian Bohen) and Steve (James Jordan) can stop by for some training!

Is there a Y: Marshals release date?

Y: Marshals was given a 13-episode run by CBS. An official premiere date has yet to be announced, but we do know the show will be a mid-season replacement and air on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. We predict the show will premiere in early 2026, perhaps in the coveted post-Super Bowl spot!
