The Yellowstone spin-off show that is focused on Beth and Rip has received a big update. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will reprise their respective roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in a new Yellowstone spin-off series. The show is expected to remain in the same present-day timeline and comes from executive producer Taylor Sheridan.
What do we know about the new Yellowstone spin-off?
Per Deadline, the Yellowstone spin-off series focused on Beth and Rip has been officially titled The Dutton Ranch.
“The Dutton Ranch, home to Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser), is a testament to the peace they sought, fought for, and nearly died for, as they’ve come to cherish their 7,000-acre land,” the publication’s description of the new series reads. “With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter (Finn Little) becomes the man he’s supposed to be.” Additionally, Annette Bening has joined the cast and will be playing Beulah Jackson, the “powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.”
Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Spinoffs Continue To Cast Big-Name Actors

Annette Bening has been cast as Beulah Jackson, the head of a major Texan ranch in The Dutton Ranch. Bening has won a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award, as well as having been nominated for five Academy Awards, one Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards, marking another huge name for the Yellowstone franchise. Impressively, Bening is just the most recent big-name actor to join Taylor Sheridan’s Western TV universe, which already boasts an incredible line-up of stars. Even Yellowstone itself had its fair share of big names in both main and supporting roles, but its spinoffs’ castings have arguably gotten even better.
1883 had Western veteran Sam Elliot and musicians Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Its sequel miniseries 1923 then cast Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and Timothy Dalton in leading roles. The upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison, is confirmed to star Michelle Pfeiffer in the leading role, further cementing the franchise’s stellar reputation.
Kevin Costner Set A High Standard For Yellowstone Franchise Casting
While the Yellowstone franchise has undeniably expanded from its 2018 starting point both in terms of general scope and star-studded casting, arguably none of this could have been possible without Kevin Costner’s role in the flagship series. Costner’s performance as John Dutton set the casting bar high. Prior to his time on the series, Costner was known for several Westerns, particularly Dances with Wolves, which won both Best Picture and Best Director at the Oscars. The entire Dutton family and those they interact with give strong performances throughout the series, but it was Kevin Costner’s role that many fans were truly drawn to. This became clear when Kevin Costner left Yellowstone in season 5, prompting fan outrage over how he had been written out. While Costner’s time leading Taylor Sheridan’s Western franchise had to come to an end eventually, his Yellowstone character set the stage for some of the best casting in recent TV history.
A premiere date for The Dutton Ranch Yellowstone spin-off has not yet been announced.
