Landman Season 2, Episode 6 Ending Explained: Tommy Might Get Fired, Rebecca & Charlie Dating
Landman season 2, episode 6 had a healthy balance of personal and professional problems for Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) and the rest of the cast, and there are some growing rifts within M-Tex that need to be explored. Landman season 2, episode 5 reignited Tommy’s problems with Gallino (Andy Garcia), aka Dan Morrell. This week’s episode only made those problems worse and brought Gallino closer to Cami (Demi Moore). There were also plenty of problems in the Norris family’s orbit. Cooper had to handle yet another test from Ariana and get an engagement ring before he could propose and TL got into a fight and had a heart-to-heart with Tommy after tagging along for a meeting. Even Rebecca had some big developments in Landman season 2, episode 6, so it’s worth diving into everything that happened this week.
A Rift Is Growing In M-Tex: Why Cami Thinks Tommy Is A “Loser”
Emerson Miller/Paramount+Since Cami sided with Gallino instead of Tommy at the end of Landman season 2, episode 5, a rift has been growing in M-Tex. Cami previously told Tommy that she was siding with Gallino because he gave her the best chance of keeping M-Tex afloat. Now, Tommy explained that Cami thinks he’s a “loser,” but he didn’t go into the exact reasons why. Gallino also noted that Cami may be “poisoned” against Tommy as a result, so it’s worth investigating. Tommy noted that he and Monty both got into the oil industry at about the same time, but he was wiped out by the financial crash of 2008 while Monty survived. He wasn’t as successful as Monty, which is the primary reason Cami thinks Tommy is a “loser.” Cami also mentioned last week that she views herself as a winner, which helps explain why she’s starting to grow apart from Tommy. Cami’s view of Tommy as a loser could have a big impact on Landman season 2 going forward. If Gallino is right and Cami starts getting “poisoned” on the idea of Tommy being president, he could be demoted back to landman or even outright fired from M-Tex. Cami will also likely get even closer to Gallino and his dirty money in her increasingly desperate bid to save M-Tex and Monty’s legacy.
Cooper’s Meeting With Elvio’s Grandmother Explained
Emerson Miller / Paramount+Landman season 2, episode 6 also included another step in Cooper’s quest to marry Ariana. Ariana asked Cooper to bring her son over to his paternal grandmother’s house while she was at work so that she could meet Cooper and evaluate him. In yet another test of Cooper’s commitment, Ariana wanted to make sure Elvio’s grandmother approved of him and was satisfied by his commitment to Ariana. While the sheer number of tests Ariana and her family members have for Cooper is astonishing, it also fits with Landman season 2’s broader themes. Almost every character in Landman, including Cooper, Ariana, Tommy, TL, Angela, and even Rebecca, is delivering a unified message: love is important and worth fighting for. Cooper is being tested so much because he loves Ariana, and loving someone means taking challenges head-on.
Why TL Punched A Man & What He Means By Making Memories Explained

The father-son relationship between TL and Tommy also took two steps forward and one step back in Landman season 2, episode 6. TL accompanied Tommy to his meeting with Cami and Gallino in Fort Worth, and while at the rodeo, he met a former roughneck he worked with. After an unheard altercation, TL punched his former coworker and Tommy blew up at him. Landman didn’t explicitly say why TL punched that man, but it’s almost certainly because he said something disparaging about his late wife, Dorothy. As he said to Tommy, though Dorothy was a drug addict and awful mother, TL still loves her and is mourning her death. What his former coworker said may have been accurate, but TL was always going to defend the woman he loves regardless of the truth. Later in the episode, TL also mentioned that Tommy needs to make memories while he still can, and it wasn’t entirely clear what he meant by that. Based on the heart-to-heart they had after the punch, it’s clear that Angela is very similar to the vibrant, lovely woman Dorothy once was. TL threw his life away hoping that Dorothy would come back, and he doesn’t want Tommy to take Angela and all the love she has for granted.
Are Rebecca & Charlie Dating Now? Landman Season 2’s Newest Romance Explained
Emerson Miller / Paramount+One of the more surprising moments in Landman season 2, episode 6 came from Rebecca and her new love interest, Charlie. As the episode revealed, Charlie is a scientist who works for M-Tex, and Rebecca had him explain the logistics and timeline of repairing the offshore natural gas rig to her. During their conversation, however, Charlie and Rebecca shared a passionate kiss. Rebecca was putting out mixed signals throughout the entire conversation, so the state of her relationship with Charlie isn’t entirely clear. At this point, it looks like Rebecca and Charlie are going to start dating. They both find each other attractive, they both place tremendous value on their careers, and Charlie is encouraging Rebecca to enjoy life more than she currently does, so a relationship simply makes sense. Charlie and Rebecca are also going to have plenty of time to get more familiar. Rebecca asked Charlie to lead the rebuilding effort for the offshore rig, and based on how involved she’s been in the legal side of this debacle so far, that means she’ll be working with him directly for the next several months. It seems Landman season 2 just created its newest couple in Charlie and Rebecca.
