‘Landman’ Revealed Tommy Norris’ Next Move After Shocking Twist Ending

Season 2 of Landman is coming to a head this weekend as fans prepare for the finale. While this season of the hit Taylor Sheridan oil show has gotten mixed reviews due to its slower pace and plotlines that heavily follow Ainsley and Angela Norris. As for the drama in the oil fields, we are seeing romance blossom between Rebecca Falcone and Charlie Newsom, a geologist leading the offshore drilling expedition for M-Tex Oil. Although the two got into a tiff after Charlie sold the risky operation with a very low success rate, they have since made amends, and all are going to Louisiana for an extravagant rig launch party.

However, things for Tommy Norris did not go as planned during the party.

For anyone who has yet to watch the latest Landman episode and does not want anything spoiled, proceed with caution. Alright, now that I’ve got that warning out of the way, back to it!

Throughout Ep. 9 of Landman, we watched as M-Tex corporate team travel to Louisiana to witness a rig launch. The celebration is unconventional, but symbolic of Cami’s enthusiasm to drill despite long odds of finding gas. Tommy’s grumpy-cat attitude is raining on the party, so after a conversation during which he admits he’s averse to the thrill of exploration, she pulls him aside. The trailer video showed Cami saying that the president of the company can’t be averse to the very thing it was built on. We didn’t see what comes next. Cami fires Tommy and before he can object, she gets up and walks away.

While it was shocking to me to see Cami fire the man who kept her husband’s company afloat and was truly Monty’s right-hand man, the constant butting of heads gave the indication that Cami was ready to make a change. However, now M-Tex Oil is at the mercy of this offshore rig to be successful, or else Cami will lose M-Tex to the investor (and cartel boss) Gallino, who operates under the legitimate-sounding alias Danny Morrell.

After Cami made her choice to let Tommy go, I know I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens with the company. And according to the Season 2 Episode 10 trailer, which is the season finale, it looks like Tommy goes to Gallino for a job or a favor to ensure M-Tex Oil does not go belly up, or to protect and look out for Cami like Monty would have wanted. Or perhaps he is partnering with Gallino on Cooper Norris’ rigs… the possibilities here are endless.

But the choice to work with Gallino comes with a significant risk.

In the trailer, viewers hear Gallino tell Tommy that if he loses “this,” the thing Tommy loves the most, it is the first thing Gallino will take. This statement leaves viewers with many questions. What is Gallino giving Tommy Norris? What is Gallino going to take? Angela? Ainsley? Cooper? His truck? Probably not his truck, but Tommy leads with a protective sort of apathy, so it’s hard to tell what his priorities are.

The second question is, what is the nature of this new deal? Tommy was the No. 1 opponent of M-Tex’s $400 million deal with Gallino. Is he now getting into business with the cartel boss? My guess is that yes, he is partnering with him, but maybe by force. He’ll end Season 2 unemployed (officially) but working for Gallino as part of a dangerous blackmail. The one thing Tommy spent all season trying to avoid has come to fruition.

I’m not sure what Taylor Sheridan is cooking up for this season finale, but it looks tense. That sounds like one heck of a cliffhanger to get us to Season 3.
