‘The Madison’ Drops Teaser Trailer During ‘Landman’ Finale: Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer Confront Grief in Moving

Fans of the ever-expanding Taylor Sheridan TV universe can finally treat themselves to the first teaser trailer for the prolific filmmaker’s latest series, The Madison. Viewers who tuned into the season two finale of Landman caught the first teaser trailer on Sunday.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell star as Stacy and Preston Clyburn, members of a moving and shaking New York City family that relocates to the windswept plains of Montana after suffering a profound tragedy.

“My center, my soul, is gone,” Pfeiffer proclaims at the beginning of the new teaser. A shot of the Williamsburg Bridge fades to a grief-stricken Pfeiffer falling to her knees in the titular Madison River, a tributary of the Missouri River that forks through much of the Big Sky state.

Pfeiffer and Russell are two of the biggest stars to step into the dust-caked shoes of characters in Sheridan’s rugged part of the world. Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and Zoe Saldaña have also appeared on various other Sheridan shows, which teem with greater star power with each successive iteration.

While the casting of the stars of The Age of Innocence and The Thing was previously known, Sunday’s new teaser reveals a new character: Dr. Phil Yorn, a New York City therapist played by Will Arnett.

“You will heal, if you let yourself,” he tells a client in the teaser.

“What do I have? Before I’m too old to do anything more than just remember,” Russell ponders over a majestic orchestral score.

Pfeiffer, made flinty and raw by heartbreak, tells an unseen companion on the porch of her new little house on the prairie, “I’ve decided to feed this,” as she points to her heart, and, pointing to her brain, adds, “and never factor this into the equation.”

Since premiering Yellowstone in 2018, Sheridan has become one of the most industrious and successful showrunners in Hollywood. He has executive-produced every spinoff, sequel, prequel, and unrelated show that shares a neo-Western bent since, created all but one (Lawmen: Bass Reeves), and has writing and directing credits on most.

Prequels 1883 and 1923 followed Yellowstone, while standalone series Tulsa King and Landman have secured his status as one of Paramount’s biggest hitmakers. Even with The Madison around the corner, Sheridan is also at work helping the streamer launch two more Yellowstone sequel series: Y: Marshals and Dutton Ranch.

Though The Madison is being described as a spinoff, its connection to the flagship series is less clear than Y: Marshals and Dutton Ranch, which both center on characters that Sheridan originated on the Kevin Costner-led series.

Joining Pfeiffer, Russell, and Arnett in the ensemble cast of the six-episode series are Suits star Patrick J. Adams, A Man Called Otto newcomer Elle Champman, The Good Doctor standout Beau Garrett, and Matthew Fox, best known for his leading role on the TV series Lost.

The Madison premieres on Paramount+ on March 14.
