TV fans know him as rancher Kayce Dutton, but Luke Grimes is a man of many talents and has announced his next creative project after his upcoming Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals. The 42-year-old American actor is famous for his roles in Fifty Shades of Grey, American Sniper, The Magnificent Seven and Yellowstone, in which he plays the son of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton.
Luke is due to take on the role of Kayce once more in the new spin-off, airing on 1 March. This time, he steps into the lead role as Kayce leaves his family ranch in Yellowstone to join an elite unit of US Marshals. What fans may not know about Luke, however, is that he is also a musician and has a “deeply personal” new album on the way. Keep reading to find out everything we know so far…
Luke Grimes’s next project after Marshals
Taking to Instagram, Luke shared that he has been busy since wrapping filming on Marshals, revealing that his new album will land on 3 April, just over a month after the TV show airs. “I’m excited to finally announce that my new album ‘Redbird’ will be coming out on April 3rd. The first song we are releasing “Love you now” is out today on all platforms. More coming very soon!” he captioned the post, which featured a candid picture of him strumming a guitar, alongside his album art.
Speaking to Parade about his latest project, Luke revealed that the album was “a cathartic experience” to make. “Sometimes the highs and lows of life are too much to express with words, so song becomes necessary,” he added. “As deeply personal as it is, the themes are simple and universal: love, loss and learning along the way.”
Fans of Luke’s work were quick to take to the comments to share their excitement for the new single and upcoming album. “Awesome. Congratulations, Luke, on this album. I can’t wait to hear it,” one person said, while another penned: “Just listened to Love You Now. Incredible!” A third added: “YES. So excited!! Now we need another tour.”
Who does Luke Grimes play in Marshals?
While fans will be awaiting news on whether Luke will confirm a tour, they can be sure to see him step back into the familiar role of Kayce Dutton on 1 March. Leaving the ranch behind, Kayce will use his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. In doing so, Kayce must balance “family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
