While Taylor Sheridan’s television series rarely receive awards recognition, the cast of Landman is tonight nominated at the Actor Awards (formerly called the SAG Awards) for best ensemble in a television drama.
Leading the cast is Billy Bob Thornton, who has previously been nominated four times at the Actor Awards. (Twice for the 1997 film Sling Blade, for Best Actor and Cast in a Motion Picture, and then for his performances in A Simple Plan and Fargo.) Despite many of his costars attending, Thornton himself did not appear to be there. He last attended the Actor Awards (previously the SAG Awards) in 2015.
Recently, Thornton has been spotted filming Somedays, a film he stars in alongside Ariana Greenblatt and Pamela Anderson.
Per Deadline, “The film follows a weary delivery driver with months to live who saves a brilliant but troubled teenage girl. The two form an unlikely, life-changing bond that teaches them both what it truly means to live.”
Thornton last appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers in January.
Landman has already been renewed for a third season. “At the end of the day, it is Taylor’s plan and we’re all just waiting on what he decides to do,” co-creator Christian Wallace said of what’s to come for Thornton’s character, Tommy. “There’s a great level of trust there that whatever Taylor decides will be the right move. There are a lot of possibilities, but I’m not sure myself exactly how it’s going to play out. So, we’ll see.”
Thornton is looking forward to working on Landman as long as it’s renewed. “I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there,” he said.
