Yellowstone Spinoff Dutton Ranch Drops First Look at Beth and Rip’s Son Carter All Grown Up

Finn Little is stepping back into Carter’s boots, and fans are already taking notice. On Monday, April 13, the official Dutton Ranch Instagram account shared a first look at Little reprising his role as Carter, offering a glimpse at where the Yellowstone character is in the upcoming spinoff — and hinting at how much has changed.

In the image, Little, 19, is seen seated on the back of a truck alongside Natalie Alyn Lind, who stars as Oreana. The account captioned the post simply, “Yeah, he grew up,” a line that quickly caught fans’ attention and sparked conversation online.

A separate shot offers another look at Little in action, showing him on horseback in a barn setting — a visual that underscores Carter’s deeper connection to ranch life and suggests he’s fully stepping into the world he once struggled to navigate.

Little’s Carter became a standout on Yellowstone as a troubled teen taken in by Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). Now fans are already speculating about what’s next, especially when it comes to Carter’s dynamic with Oreana.

“I can’t help but hope Beth likes her,” one viewer commented, while another wrote, “Can’t wait for what Beth has to say about this girl.”

Others drew comparisons to Carter’s guardians, with one fan joking, “Rip and Beth Dutton Jr.,” as another added, “I have a sneaking suspicion he’s found her mini me.” Some couldn’t help but notice the passage of time, with one fan quipping, “Finn ain’t so little anymore.”

Dutton Ranch follows Beth (Reilly) and Rip (Hauser) as they begin a new life together in Texas. The Yellowstone finale saw the couple settling down on a sprawling 7,000-acre property outside Dillon, Mont., but that sense of peace doesn’t last long. “With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be,” the series’ logline teases.

An updated description reveals the stakes only get higher as the pair “fight to build a future together” while colliding with “brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.”

“In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul,” the logline adds.

Along with Little, the series also stars Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney, Marc Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba and JR Villarreal. Paramount+ dropped the first trailer for Dutton Ranch on March 23, offering a brief look at the action-packed drama to come. Set to Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” the teaser shows Beth and Rip sharing a drink by a fire as flashes of intense moments unfold — including the first glimpses of Bening and Harris’ characters.

Dutton Ranch premieres May 15, with its first two episodes. Season 1 will consist of nine episodes and will be available to stream on Paramount+ before airing on Paramount Network at 8 p.m. ET. Until then, fans can revisit the Yellowstone universe with prequels 1883 and 1923 on Paramount+, while all five seasons of the flagship series are currently streaming on Peacock.
