Country singer/actor Tim McGraw has landed his first major role following 1883, joining Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of Southern Bastards.
What Is Southern Bastards About?
Southern Bastards is based on the 2014 comic book of the same name created by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour for Image Comics. The series, which landed both Harvey and Eisner Awards, focuses on the criminal side of a football-obsessed town in the American South. McGraw’s character, Coach Boss, is the local high school football coach who doubles as a crime lord. His illegal activities put him at odds with the former sheriff’s son, Earl Tubb (Bacon). Kellyman plays Roberta Tubb, a former Marine who’s also out for revenge against Boss. Southern Bastards ran for 21 issues, concluding in 2018.
Tim McGraw’s First Big Role Since the Yellowstone Franchise
On the silver screen, McGraw made his acting breakout in 2004 with both Black Cloud and Friday Night Lights. He’d go on to appear in such films as Flicka, Tomorrowland, Four Christmases, and more.
