Landman season 2’s phantom menace has been quietly sinking his hooks into M-Tex Oil and Tommy Norris’s (Billy Bob Thornton) life. Tommy was alarmed to discover that his son, Cooper (Jacob Lofland), was being bankrolled by a silent partner who turned out to be Danny Morrell of Sonrisa.
Tommy confronted Danny Morrell in Landman season 2, episode 3. Norris used expletives to make it clear to Gallino that they would not be “friends” or “partners,” despite the cartel head sparing Norris’ life in Landman season 1’s finale. However, Gallino found an easier way into M-Tex: the company’s new owner, Cami Miller.
Gallino Set The Perfect Trap & Cami Miller Walked Right Into It
While Tommy and the Norris family were attending his mother’s funeral in Canadian, Texas, Gallino had a fateful lunch with Cami in Fort Worth. Cami confessed M-Tex’s financial catastrophe and asked Danny Morrell for a $350-million investment. Though Gallino specified he would only deal with Tommy, Danny said “yes” to bankrolling M-Tex. Gallino’s friendly meeting with Cami was a trap that the drug kingpin expertly sprang.
Cleverly, Gallino set a very public lunch meeting that was also attended by his wife, Bella (Stefania Spampinato). Bella, Cami, and Angela Norris (Ali Larter) all hit it off and became “new best friends” at the Cattleman’s Club. Bella’s presence ensured Cami would feel at ease talking business with Danny Morrell and suspect nothing underhanded.
Gallino Could Own M-Tex When Landman Season 2 Is Over
Landman season 2, episode 4 ended without Tommy learning about Gallino pumping $350-million to fund M-Tex’s offshore drilling platform and alleviate the company’s financial jeopardy. No doubt that Tommy will hit the roof when he finds out Cami and Danny Morrell met without him, and he now has to deal with Gallino. Cooper Norris’ sudden millions he’s earning in oil drilling, M-Tex being financially rescued by Sonrisa, and possibly even the fatal H2S gas leaks in Midland, Texas, could all be traced to Gallino’s doing. It seems that “Danny Morrell” is a multi-faceted long game with the end goal of gaining control of M-Tex Oil.
So far in Landman season 2, Tommy Norris has been too distracted by family issues to see Gallino’s big picture, and Danny Morrell is preying on how Cami has no experience running a company the size of M-Tex. Tommy has a lot of catch-up to play if he wants to counter Gallino’s plot and save M-Tex.
