Tulsa King has now been officially renewed for a third season at Paramount+, and the Taylor Sheridan drama has the chance to continue even beyond that — maybe to Season 4 and beyond. Before Paramount+ confirmed the Season 3 news on social media, announcing the start of production on March 18, Deadline reported that Sylvester Stallone was in final contract negotiations to return for two more seasons, after which the streamer would make it official. (The site also reported that the show could continue on even further, with potential spinoffs.) So what we do know about a potential Tulsa King Season 3 so far? Here’s a look.

When will Tulsa King Season 3 premiere?

It’s too early to know when the new season will premiere, but according to a social media update, production has officially begun.

Who will star in Tulsa King Season 3?

Sylvester Stallone will return to his role as Dwight Manfredi, the eponymous king of the Tulsa underground.

The series has also added several new series regulars. According to Deadline, Robert Patrick and Beau Knapp will play father and son, Jeremiah and Cole Dunmire, who are wealthy in the liquor business. And Variety reports Kevin Pollack has joined the cast as Special Agent Musso, an FBI agent with “an axe to grind.” Plus, Variety previously reported that Bella Heathcote joined the show as Cleo Montague, the daughter of a distillery owner, and James Russo has a new recurring role as “Quiet” Ray Renzetti, a New York mob boss who is “calm and measured.”

Also returning to their roles are Jay Will as Tyson, Garrett Hedlund as Mitch, Martin Starr as Bodhi, Neal McDonough as Cal Thresher, Annabella Sciorra as Joanne, Dana Delany as Dwight’s girlfriend Margaret, Chris Caldovino as Goodie, McKenna Quigley Harrington as Grace, Ca$h Flo as Bigfoot, Vincent Piazza as capo Vince Antonacci, Frank Grillo as Bill Bevilaqua, and Michael Beach as Mark Mitchell. It is unknown if we’ll see more of Tatiana Zappardino as Tina or Max Casella as Armand.

According to the slate photo shared on social media, the premiere is directed by Jim McKay. And per The Hollywood Reporter, Dave Erickson will become the sole showrunner in Season 3 after serving on Mayor of Kingstown, and it’s currently unknown if Terence Winter will return as executive producer.

Where did Tulsa King Season 2 leave off?

The Season 2 finale saw Mitch opening his newly-bought car lot in his own name, while Higher Plane continues to thrive, with Dwight promising them all a fair share of the earnings for all of their businesses, which are now legitimate. He also made a deal with Bevilaqua to split the top take 50-50 in exchange for peace (and Bill taking out ousted NY boss Chickie), while Cal Thresher agreed to walk away from their former feud, and Dwight declined to cooperate with the new leadership in New York. The finale ended with a major cliffhanger, though, when Dwight and Margaret were awakened in bed by masked gunmen who kidnapped Dwight and told him that he now works for them. Were they part of the Triad that Dwight’s team eliminated? Were they New York mafia enforcers? Or is there another player in town now? We’ll have to wait and find out in Season 3.

‘Tulsa King’ Spinoff Starring Samuel L. Jackson in the Works

A spinoff of “Tulsa King” set in New Orleans is currently in the works at Paramont+, with Samuel L. Jackson attached to star and executive produce.

Variety has learned from sources that the project, currently titled “NOLA King,” will be set up by a guest starring appearance from Jackson in the upcoming third season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Tulsa King.” Exact details about the new series remain under wraps, aside from the fact that Jackson would lead the series as a character similar to Sylvester Stallone’s in “Tulsa King.”

Dave Erickson, who currently works with Sheridan on both “Tulsa King” and “Mayor of Kingstown,” will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on “NOLA King.” Sheridan will also executive produce, as will David C. Glasser of 101 Studios. MTV Entertainment Studios will produce.
