Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore Return for Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’

The widely streamed Paramount+ series from Taylor Sheridan has been renewed for Season 2. Here’s everything to know.

Yellowstone might be over for now, but Taylor Sheridan sure isn’t. Yellowstone‘s creative force has over 10 series in production or development at Paramount. One of those is Landman.

Adapted from a popular podcast, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company. The series also starred Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, and Jon Hamm.

What is Landman about?

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown,” the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.

Landman is co-created by Oscar-nominated multi-hyphenate Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace.

When does Season 2 of Landman premiere?

No word yet on when Season 2 of Landman premieres. But if it follows a schedule similar to the first season, then it will likely premiere on a Sunday in the fall/winter with episodes dropping weekly on Sundays.

Who will not return for Season 2 of Landman?

Jon Hamm (Monty Miller)

Monty is a Texas oil titan who has a long history, both personal and professional, with Tommy Norris. He suffers from a heart condition and dies at the end of Season 1. Hamm is best known for leading the ensemble cast of Mad Men. He most recently appeared in Top Gun: Maverick.

Michael Peña (Armando)

Peña guest starred in the first season as Armando, an oil rig worker who mentors Tommy’s son, Cooper. He dies in the explosion that takes the lives of everyone except Cooper.

When did Landman begin filming?

Principal photography for Season 1 commenced on Landman at the beginning of February 2024.

No official word on when Season 2 will begin production (so check back here for updates), but back in May 2024, long before season 1 premiered, Demi Moore told Deadline that she would be filming Season 2 in early 2025. “I’ve already completed the first season and I’m excited for us to start the second which will be at the beginning of next year,”

An article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about potential extras work on the series seems to reveal that production on Season 2 will begin in late March 2025.

Where is Landman filmed?

Landman filmed in and around the Fort Worth, Texas area.

How many episodes are there in Landman?

There are 10 episodes in the first season of Landman. We expect Season 2 will likely have 10 episodes also.

Will there be a Season 3 of Landman?

No word yet if there will be a third season of Landman, but check back here for updates!

What channel is Landman on?

Landman will stream exclusively on Paramount+ as part of Taylor Sheridan’s $200 million production deal.

Will Landman be on Netflix?

Not anytime soon! See the above note about Taylor Sheridan’s six-figure Paramount deal. Netflix could eventually get rights to some of the Yellowstone creator’s but any deal would be years and years down the line.

Will Landman be on Max?

Nope! Landman will stream exclusively on Paramount+.
