‘Landman’ Billy Bob Thornton Confirms Surprising Cameo From One of the Wealthiest Men in America Ahead of Season 2
Landman star Billy Bob Thornton made an appearance on ESPN’s Manningcast. During his chat, the actor talked about Billionaire tycoon Jerry Jones’ cameo during the first season of Landman. Praising his brief yet memorable role, the actor stated:
I was not surprised, because he was actually telling his own story. I mean, if it had been scripted in a way where he had to say every line, it might have been different. But he was actually telling the story of his life. So if you just ask somebody, sit down and tell it — and he got teared up. I mean, he was very, very good. If you can get a non-actor to be themselves, they’re better than actors.
Jones, the owner, president, and general manager of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys football team, appeared in Episode 9, WolfCamp, of the first season of the series. Starring as himself, he visited Jon Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, in a hospital. During his visit, he beautifully delivered a four-minute-long monologue about his career and life, which left fans in awe.
Will Jerry Jones Star in Landman Season 2?
Jerry Jones appeared in the ninth episode of the first season, which aired on January 5. However, it was only a cameo appearance, and there is no confirmation as of now if the business tycoon will once again make a cameo in the Taylor Sheridan-created series.
Reportedly, the 83-year-old’s four-minute long cameo earned the Dallas Cowboys over $1 million equivalent in brand value, according to Apex Marketing Group (as Sportico reported). Sheridan is reportedly well known to the Jones family and is a regular at the family suite at Cowboys games. They have even collaborated in the past when they appeared in a team’s schedule release video back in 2023.
When Will Landman Season 2 Release?
While it remains unlikely whether Landman Season 2 will star Jerry Jones or not, the Taylor Sheridan-created series will return with its second season on Paramount+ on Sunday, November 16. Bringing back Billy Bob Thornton, other actors confirmed to appear include Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.
As for the plot, the official logline of the second season reads:
As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later, something’s got to break.
A trailer for the season was also released a few days ago, teasing that Tommy will face even bigger confrontations and challenges as Cami gets ready to run the oil business.
