Taylor Sheridan’s Most Hated Series Blindsides Fans With Unexpected News

Before his new deal at Universal, Taylor Sheridan had created a huge empire at Paramount+. Landman, his most recent show, has just celebrated a new streaming milestone.

The drama series, which Sheridan co-created with Christian Wallace, inspired by the latter’s podcast series Boomtown, premiered in November 2024. It was an instant streaming hit, and Paramount+ rushed to renew it in March 2025, with Season 2 following one year after its debut. Per FlixPatrol, Landman has just celebrated a major streaming milestone, surpassing 200 days on the Top 10 U.S. charts.

Since its Season 1 premiere, Landman became a sleeper hit, and constantly returned to the Top 10 before its Season 2 return. As soon as the show was back for Season 2, it dominated the charts for weeks. Just over a month after its Season 2 finale on Jan. 18, Landman celebrated 200 days in the U.S. Top 10 on Feb. 21.

Landman Is a Massive Success

Taylor Sheridan created the Yellowstone franchise, as well as other fan-favorites like Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and Lioness. Landman marked his most recent television series, and it was a big success. On Feb. 22, a month after its Season 2 finale, the series is still holding onto the charts in second place.

The hit adult animated sitcom South Park has been blocking Landman from the top of the charts for several weeks, but it’s still holding an exciting position. However, it’s also doing great globally. On Paramount+, Landman is in sixth place worldwide. It’s topping the charts on SkyShowtime, the European joint version of Comcast and Paramount+, and it’s in fourth place on the Amazon PVOD charts, and in ninth place on the Apple TV store in the U.S.

Landman Returns for Season 3

Considering how successful Landman has been for Paramount+, the streaming service didn’t spend as much time weighing in the possibility of a renewal, and sealed Landman‘s fate in December, as it renewed it for Season 3. The show hasn’t set a return date yet, but it’s likely it will premiere this year. Season 3 will begin production in May, significantly later than previous entries. Season 1 kicked off production in February 2024, and Season 2 started rolling in March 2025.

Co-creator Christian Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter they will have to bear the full summer in Texas. “We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matters for us because of the heat in Texas. When we get back into production this year, it’s going to be pretty full on, and just getting hotter.” Although that will not be pleasant for the cast and crew, it will give Landman an accurate portrayal of the real condition landmen have.

The Billy Bob Thornton-led show received largely positive reviews from critics, but Season 2 attracted more criticism. Overall, the show boasts an 80% approval score from critics, with Season 2 receiving an 83% Certified Fresh rating, slightly higher than the previous entry’s 78% score. However, while audiences gave Season 1 a positive 66% score, they gave Season 2 a 46% rating, and called out the way it portrays women on the show.
