A new update about Landman season 2 has finally made up for the way Demi Moore’s Cami Miller was completely wasted. Demi Moore’s role in Landman was quite confusing for a long time. Despite being one of the biggest stars in the cast of Landman – along with Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton – she was barely in the show. For well over half the show, Cami appeared as a background character with a handful of inconsequential lines, and it wasn’t until the ending of Landman season 1 that she did anything of substance.

According to Puck News, Landman season 2 is going to fix all the problems with Cami’s role in the first season. After Monty Miller’s death in Landman, Cami is reportedly going to become a staple of the Taylor Sheridan show.

Hamm only signed a one-season deal for Landman, and creator Taylor Sheridan’s plan was always for Demi Moore, who plays Hamm’s wife and was barely in season one of the Paramount+ hit, to become a main character in season two.

In hindsight, it was rather obvious that Taylor Sheridan had something more involved for Demi Moore than Cami’s role in Landman season 1. The season finale and Monty’s death also made it clear that Cami would be working much more closely with Tommy in the future. While it’s certainly still odd that Moore had such a small role for ten full episodes, the fact that Cami Miller is going to be a main character in Landman season 2 is definitely a step in the right direction. It was really frustrating to watch all of Landman season 1 just waiting for Cami to do something, only for her to have a few minutes of importance in the finale. By making her a main character, Landman season 2 is fixing its problem with Demi Moore and finally delivering on the promise all of its marketing made. We’ll finally get to see Moore in a role that actually demands someone of her talents, and we should get more moving scenes like the ones she had while Monty was in the hospital.

At the end of season 1 and Monty’s death, ownership of M-Tex transferred over to Cami and a trust Monty had set up. While Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) is in charge of management and day-to-day operations, he said he would seek Cami’s approval on all the big decisions of M-Tex. We’ll likely get to see Moore taking on a similar role to Jon Hamm in Landman season 1, where he played a wheeling and dealing business mogul, though Tommy’s inexperience should give Cami more screen time.

Cami will also have a few challenges that Jon Hamm’s Monty didn’t have to deal with. At the end of Landman season 1, Tommy was approached by Gallino (Andy Garcia), a drug lord and leader of the cartels in the area. Because Gallino is muscling his way into M-Tex, Cami will probably have some fires to put out both legally and literally in Landman season 2. She also doesn’t know much about running a business, so there should be an element of her trying to find her way in a very different world. In short, Demi Moore should have a very exciting role in Landman season 2.
