‘Landman’ Season 3 renewal: what Paramount has confirmed
Landman Season 3 has been officially announced by its parent company, Paramount. It comes after it was shared that show creator Sheridan’s contract with them will be ending in 2028, which didn’t seem to be an issue when it came to renewing his Texas drama.
Currently, there is no official word on the plot of Season 3, and since Season 2 is still airing, it’s hard to determine exactly where the Norris clan will end up. Based on what’s currently happening in the show, it’s safe to assume viewers will see Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) either at Texas Christian University (TCU) or preparing to go there. There will most likely be some drama involving Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) and Cami Miller’s (Demi Moore) oil company, as well as some over-the-top Angela Norris (Ali Larter) dinners that Tommy will most likely hate. These plot lines were further theorized after it was revealed that Thorton told The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to do the show, “As long as I’m able.”

Sam Elliott, 81, and Billy Bob Thornton, 70, discuss the show’s future
“When I did [Amazon’s] Goliath, where I played a lawyer, I signed up for four years. And after those four years, we were satisfied. Sometimes people can go a bridge too far. There are certain shows that have been on for 12, 14, 17 seasons. After a while, it’s like, ‘OK, we get it. But what are you going to come up with next?’” he continued. “You either have to do something ridiculous or repeat stuff you’ve already been doing. So I think Landman, as an entity, will know when it’s over.”
Speaking of Thornton, another actor that could potentially have some new storylines in Season 3 is Sam Elliot, who joined the show during Season 2 as Tommy’s father.
“I’ve known Billy for a long, long time. We worked briefly a couple of times, having an opportunity to come and see him on a daily basis and try to do something special with Taylor’s work together, it’s just a great opportunity. A real gift,” Elliott told Woman’s World earlier this year. “[The show’s] got humor. It’s got drama. It’s got reality. It’s got Taylor Sheridan all over it. Taylor tells the truth, and he knows a lot of things and he knows about different subjects that will interest people. It’s just well-written and well-grounded stuff. There’s a gifted bunch of people that have the opportunity to say Taylor’s words and I think it’s a lot of fun for the audience.”
“I’m excited to see what unfolds in Season 3,” Elliott told Extra TV in November 2025, per US Weekly. “I mean, we’re talking about Season 2, but that’s the backstory for us at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward April and May [of 2026] when we start shooting Season 3.”

When is the ‘Landman’ Season 3 release date?
As of publication, there is no news on when Landman Season 3 will be released. However, since Seasons 1 and 2 were released within one year of each other, it’s safe to say that viewers won’t have to wait long. For those who cannot wait, Season 1 of Landman is currently streaming on Paramount +, and Season 2 is releasing an episode a week on the streaming service until January 18. Following that, all of the episodes will be able to stream on the app.
“Taylor, like Sam said, he writes great stories. He writes the truth and I think it’s also because the characters are unabashedly who they are and people want to see that,” Thornton told Woman’s World earlier this year. “They want to see people being 100 percent of who they are, and this could be for a bad guy or a good guy, or a good girl, bad boy or whatever it is. They want to see you go all the way with everything that you have and be honest with it. People like that about the show.”
