The series, which stars Billy Bob Thornton in the lead role, premiered late last year to mostly positive reviews. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Thornton talked about the experience of working with the prolific writer-director.
In the conversation, Thornton detailed what made Sheridan special as a writer, making the following statement:
I think people are hungry for that and I think that’s why they relate to Taylor’s stuff.
Thornton explained that in the world of modern superhero blockbusters, a section of the audience was hungry for more grounded and human stories. Sheridan’s writing appealed to this section of the audience, which is why the latter has been so prolific and effective with his storytelling despite some misses.

The Academy Award-winning actor revealed he had been filming the new episodes for the past couple of months, adding:
It just seems more and more real every day, so I’m very, very happy with it. It deals with the relationships a lot this year, so I’m very happy about that.
From Thornton’s words, it is evident that the second season will double down on the authenticity that Sheridan is so well known for. As a result, it will be more focused on the characters’ interpersonal relationships, which is likely to continue taking the series to new heights and once again prove why Sheridan is such a master of the craft.
