‘Landman’ Star Sam Elliott Stopped at a Famed Fort Worth Tex-Mex Spot While in Town

“Landman” season 2 has been filming in Fort Worth since March.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Sam Elliott, who recently joined the cast of “Landman” season 2 filming in Fort Worth, made a stop at one of Cowtown’s best-known Tex-Mex spots while in town.

The actor, whose film credits include “A Star Is Born,” “Tombstone,” and “The Big Lebowski” among others, posed for a photo on the famed patio of Joe T. Garcia’s, a Tex-Mex restaurant staple near the Fort Worth Stockyards on North Commerce Street that’s popular among celebrities.

“It’s always great to see our friend and actor, Sam Elliott, on our patio. You never know who you might run into at Joe T’s!” the restaurant posted on Instagram.

“Landman,” a drama set in the proverbial oil boomtowns of West Texas, was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace and also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and others. The second season of the show began filming in Fort Worth in March, as WFAA previously reported.

Elliott, who’s already starred in another Taylor Sheridan show, “1883” as Civil War veteran Shea Brennan, was announced by Paramount as part of the “Landman” season 2 cast as a series regular last week. Elliott won a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for his work in “1883.”

Joe T. Garcia’s, of course, has had its share of celebrity visitors over the years. Just last year, the cast and crew of another Taylor Sheridan show, “Yellowstone,” hosted the wrap party for the show there.

Last week, Billy Bob Thornton revealed Elliott would be joining the season 2 cast of Landman, Taylor Sheridan’s Texas oil drama on Paramount+. The show is based on Christian Wallace’s Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown, which takes a look at the West Texas oil industry and how the Permian Basin oil boom shaped the region’s culture and politics. Demi Moore and Jon Hamm are also starring in the show.

The show is shot in Forth Worth. Its debut season featured locations like the Petroleum Club, Hotel Drover in the Stockyards and Texas Christian University’s track-and-field complex. Production on Season 2 started in early April.

Landman marks Elliott’s second project with both Thornton and Taylor Sheridan since the Yellowstone prequel 1883.
