‘Landman’ Star Teases Changes Coming in Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan’s Hit Series

Landman fans can expect more of the same chaos they’ve come to love in season 3. The Taylor Sheridan series that follows the real-life oil boom happening in West Texas was renewed for a third season just two weeks after season 2 premiered, and Ali Larter is teasing what’s to come for the Norris crew.

While she said that Sheridan, 55, “keeps things very under wraps,” there are some things that Larter, 49, knows will go down in the upcoming installment.

In season 2, Sheridan “definitely leaned into the family,” Larter told Deadline on the red carpet at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, Jan. 4. “But we also understand the tones of our show, and he knows when he wants Angela to come on and deliver a laugh, like a breath of fresh comedy. Then he moves into an intimate, dramatic scene with Jacob [Lofland] and Ariana.”

“So I don’t think the formula’s going to change,” she said of what’s to come in season 3.

Her character, firecracker housewife Angela, the ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy, though the pair have reconciled, is “still gonna be up to her shenanigans” in season 3, Larter continued.

“And then, as an actress, I’ll still be always searching for moments with my costars that are really grounded and real and that I can kind of dig into.” “We’re back. Season 3, here we go,” she added.

Starring in Landman over the last two years has been a “freeing” experience for the actress, she previously told PEOPLE. “Angela walks through life without the fear of judgment of others. She makes up her own rules. And for me, that’s so exciting to play, because I’m not like that,” she said of her character. “And you really can’t be like that in most areas of life if you want to fit into the societal norms.”

The role certainly has its challenges, particularly given that Larter is in a bikini or a skin-tight dress in nearly every scene she’s in. “Anytime you have to put on a bathing suit and walk in front of anybody, it’s really difficult,” she shared. “When I look around, the sexiest women I know are the women that own it. So, part of getting there with Angela is owning it. There is no space in my mind for insecurity —  I’m not allowing any of that into my space when I play Angela.”

She credited Sheridan, whom she called a “provocateur,” for the massive success of the show despite its criticisms. “It’s incredible how Taylor made oil fascinating, and the landscape. You would never know that — this is why he’s such a genius — you would never know on paper that this show would be so riveting or so many people would love it, different generations of people who live in different places. That they find a connection to it, I think, is super fascinating.”
