Where Was ‘1923’ Filmed? Every Breathtaking Location Used in the ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel!
1923‘s second season continues to follow the story of Jacob (Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) as they face a plethora of challenges in early 20th-century Midwest America, fighting in the ever-changing landscape of the USA to protect their prized family ranch from those who wish to take their land by force. 1923 aims to fill in much of the gaps between 1883 and the original Yellowstone series, further fleshing out the Dutton legacy and giving the saga a form of three-act structure between the three series.
Where Is ‘1923’ Supposed to Take Place?
Easily one of the highlights of the series is the show’s depiction of Montana, the primary setting for the Paramount+ series. With vast landscapes and period-appropriate sets and clothing, every detail is remarkably realized to create a lived-in period piece. However, while Jacob and Cara Dutton’s story features a Midwest backdrop, the show was also filmed in the great state of Texas. Between the show’s two seasons, many parts of both Montana and Texas were used to bring Taylor Sheridan’s world to life in 1923, so let’s take a closer look at the specific locations of the series’ production.
