The Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser-led series is filling the bunkhouse with top-level talent.
Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly aren’t the only actors saddling up in Montana for a Yellowstone spin-off. A few major names are joining the network’s fleet of sequels currently in development—including The Dutton Ranch with Hauser and Reilly, Y: Marshals with Luke Grimes, 1944, and The Madison with newcomers Matthew Fox and Michelle Pfeiffer. First to premiere on the list? The Dutton Ranch.
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is preparing to release the Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) spin-off on Paramount+ sometime in 2026. According to the network, the series follows the couple as they seek to raise their pseudo-adopted son, Carter (Finn Little)—who is also returning to the series—in their new home. “Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch,” the official logline reads. “With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”
In addition to returning Yellowstone alums, The Dutton Ranch plans to add some newcomers to the Sheridan-verse. The first among them: BAFTA and Golden Globe winner Annette Bening. Deadline reported that Bening will join The Dutton Ranch in the role of Beulah Jackson, “the powerful, cunning and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.”
The series also plans to add to Ed Harris (Westworld), per Variety. He joins as Everett McKinney, “a weathered veteran and veterinarian who treats animals with compassion and understanding and has a good sense of humor.”
As Dutton-heads may recall, Beth and Rip took in Carter after his father died. Now that they’re planning to move to a smaller estate near Dillon, Montana at the end of the Yellowstone season 5 finale, it seems Beth and Rip will take Carter with them. How Bening’s Beulah Jackson or Harris’s kindly veterinarian will be part of the story remains unclear.

There’s no word yet as to how Dutton Ranch will continue the Dutton-family story, beyond following the modern day timeline. At the end of Yellowstone season 5, Kayce (Luke Grimes) helped Beth and Rip save the family ranch by selling it to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). Though Kayce remains on the ranch with his family, he will star on his own series on CBS.
In December, Reilly confirmed the spin-off on her own Instagram page. When a fan asked about the rumors surrounding the spin-off series, she wrote, “true 🤍.” Meanwhile, Hauser told The Hollywood Reporter that the series will focus on Rip and Beth’s relationship after the events of the season 5 finale. “I’m excited just like everybody else,” he said. “I can’t wait to see what they come up with.” It looks like Hauser will have that chance with Dutton Ranch, and soon!
Harris joins the growing list of A-list talent within Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone-verse, also including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren with prequel series 1923 and Michelle Pfeiffer, who is leading the upcoming modern-day spinoff The Madison.
In addition to Dutton Ranch and The Madison, the sprawling Yellowstone franchise also includes prequel series 1883 and CBS’ upcoming Y: Marshals, which returns Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. Another prequel, 1944, is in development following the likely conclusion of 1923.
